Shin is for Safa (June 2005)

Shin is the 21st letter in the Hebrew alphabet. It is also the first letter in the Hebrew word "Safa" which means "Language". This work was created for the "A is for Apple" show at EBSQ.

I used a calligraphic Photoshop brush to paint the word "Language" in 54 different languages, gave every language a different color and transparency so that they would blend together, creating a tapestry, on which I drew the "Shin" letter. Hopefully we would learn to blend, leaving our differences behind the same way our languages blend when mixed together.
