Movement
(January
2004)
This
piece is influenced by the kinetic works of the 1960s-70s. In it I
create the illusion of movement, by duplicating the word movement, and
offsetting it so that it overlaps with itself, obscuring some of the
letters in a way, similar to the way movement is sometimes represented
in comics. This, along with the black and white waves, create a perfect
illusion of movement, so that the word movement becomes the shape of
it's own meaning. In this piece I also use a font I created, called
Sharp Edge. This is one of the pieces I entered into the
EBSQ
"
Alphabet:
Typography Incorporated into Art" show.
